Causes of Extremity Injuries
Injuries to the limbs and joints may involve:
- Legs, hips, thighs, knees, ankles, feet
- Arms, shoulders, elbows, forearms, wrists, hands
- Muscle injuries
- Loss of limb
- Arm or leg problems caused by a back or spinal injury
An accident with enough force can result in trauma to the muscles, ligaments and tendons. Overuse and repetitive motions can cause cumulative trauma injuries to these soft tissues as well. A separate claim is required for these types of injuries.
Cumulative trauma injuries may also happen to the shoulders, elbows, wrists, knees and ankles. Repetitive motions such as lifting or carrying heavy items, walking on uneven surfaces or operating machinery can cause these types of injuries. A cumulative trauma injury can cause pain, tingling, burning, discomfort, numbness or reduced range of motion that may be significant enough to prevent you from performing work or daily tasks.
For injuries to the extremities and hips, you can make a separate benefits claim for each injured body part. Claims may be submitted for the right hip, left hip, right foot, left foot, etc. We can discuss these claims with you.
